What we pay

Honest cash, priced on condition and specs.

We're a recycler — we pay real money, but not top dollar. Most e-waste places pay nothing at all; we look up the actual model, storage, RAM and battery and give you a real number based on what we can refurbish or part out.

The short version

We pay — not top dollar, but real money. Specs and condition move the number, not weight. And if a device is truly beyond saving, we may pass on it — we'll tell you before anything is picked up.

Written offer first

You see the exact number before anything moves. No renegotiation on the day unless the device is meaningfully different from what you described.

Condition tiers

Start with the grade.

Every offer starts here — then specs move it up or down within the tier.

A
Recent, working, clean

Boots quickly, runs current software, battery holds a charge, screen and case look sharp. This is where our best offers live.

Example — MacBook Air from the last few years, current-gen iPad, iPhone 13 and newer.

Our best offer
Real cash — not retail resale price, but the top of our range
B
Works, older or worn

Fully functional but a few generations behind, or shows normal wear — small scuffs, tired battery, minor cosmetic marks.

Example — 5-year-old business laptop, iPad with scratches, older iPhone that still runs fine.

Payout
Fair offer
Meaningful money, well below the Grade A number
C
Powers on, has issues

Turns on but something's wrong — cracked screen, dead battery, sticky keys, a failing component. Still worth something for parts or repair.

Example — iPhone with a cracked screen, laptop that won't hold a charge, iPad with a bad port.

Modest — enough to be worth bringing in
D
Dead or unsalvageable

Won't turn on, water damaged, or truly beyond saving. We take most of these for free recycling — but if there's nothing usable at all, we reserve the right to pass.

Example — Ancient tower nobody makes parts for, phone that hasn't turned on in years, water-damaged laptop.

Specs that move the offer

Then the specs decide where you land.

Two laptops in the same condition can be worth wildly different amounts. Here's what actually shifts the number — in the order it matters.

Factor 01
Model & year
Biggest single factor

A 2023 MacBook Air pays far more than a 2015 one, even in the same condition. We look up the exact model — not the category.

Big swing on laptops & iPads

512GB and 1TB models resell for a lot more than base 128GB / 256GB. On phones, storage matters most on Pro / Max models.

RAM (laptops & desktops)
Meaningful

16GB and 32GB machines stay usable much longer, so they resell for more. 8GB is baseline. 4GB drops a machine down a tier.

Gaming GPU
Pays the most

Gaming laptops and desktops with a dedicated graphics card are the highest payouts we do — RTX cards especially. Even an older gaming rig usually beats a newer office machine.

Powers on?
Sets the tier

A device that boots into the OS is worth a lot more than one that won't turn on. Even a cracked-screen phone that still powers on beats a dead one.

Moderate

Cracked glass, dead pixels or a battery that dies in an hour all pull the offer down — but not to zero. We fix these all the time.

Small but real

Dents, deep scratches and missing keys chip a bit off. Original charger and box add a bit back. Nothing here makes or breaks the offer.

Gaming gear

We pay lots for gaming laptops and PCs.

Anything with a dedicated graphics card is worth real money to us — gaming laptops, custom-built desktops, prebuilts, even ones that don't boot but still have a good GPU inside. These are our top payouts, well above a normal office laptop.

Before you bring it

We're a home-based setup — reserve your drop-off.

VicTechCycle runs out of a home workshop, not a storefront — so there's no walk-in counter. To drop off one to four devices, reserve a time first by email or phone. We'll confirm a slot, then you bring it by and get paid on the spot.

Book a drop-off

Email mapleloopit@gmail.com or call (250) 986-6407. 10+ devices? We'll come to you — free pickup.

Why this works

We resell, so we can pay you something.

Straight cash

Not store credit, not a donation receipt, not a coffee gift card. Actual cash or e-transfer when we take the device.

Written offer first

You see the number before anything moves. We don't renegotiate on the day unless the device is meaningfully different from what you described.

We can say no

We reserve the right to decline devices we can't refurbish, part out or responsibly move. You'll always know before anything is picked up — no wasted trips.
